Flat Vellum + Paper Valentines Treat Bags
Welcome to day #9 of Valentines week! Can you believe I've been posting for nine days?! Anyways...for today's idea I wanted to show another use for the Folded Gift Bag Die Set. I used the set to create flat, glassine-like bags from vellum and paper. I so thrilled with how they turned out! They're the perfect size for a few candies or for slipping in a gift card to the recipients favorite place.
Let's get started...
I started with the vellum bag because I wanted to see if I could really create a glassine-like bag with this die set. I cut only one of the front of the bag with the bottom, rectangular piece and one of just the front without the rectangular piece. For the top I decided to use the paper bag edge included in the set. To glue them together I used some score tape on either side and on the bottom rectangular flap and placed them on top on one another. And that was it! They come together pretty quickly once you have the pieces die-cut. You will have to trim the bag a little bit on the sides as one of them is a score line.
Inside the bag I put some red, pink and white crinkle and tied it shut with some red twine. I also strung on a tag I made using the heart from the Folded Airplane Die Set and stamping the coordinating elements from Love Ya on top. I used Candied Apple for my stamping to match the twine.
For my second bag I used some light pink cardstock and the scalloped edge. Again, I die-cut it twice, once with the bottom flap and once without, trimming of any excess. On this bag I stamped the heart from Love Ya repeatedly with Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Ink.
For the tag I die-cut the little banner one from the Folded Airplane Die Set as well as the "soar" die-cut. I inked the tag lightly with Worn Lipstick and the "soar" with Candied Apple. On the tag I also stamped "you make my heart" and glued the "soar" just below it. The "s" slightly overlapped the hole of the tag so I just used a hole punch to make a new one. I also added some shimmer to the die-cut with my Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pens. I stuffed some tulle inside the bag and closed it with a pink clothespin.
And those are my sweet bags! Aren't they adorable? When I was designing this die set I had originally wanted to make it so the bags would could out flat but changed my mind. I thought having a folded bag would be more useful. I am beyond excited that I figured out a way to use the set for both styles.
What do you think of today's project? Let me know in the comments below!
