Rise Up and Pray Bible Journaling Entry by Lindsey
Hello everyone, it’s Lindsey and I’m so honored to be over here as a guest on the Right at Home blog! As soon as I received my stamp sets from Nicole, I knew exactly how I wanted to use them for a Bible Journaling entry. You can find my process video for this entry over on my YouTube channel.
I wish I had beautiful hand lettering skills and even though I’m working on it, I still prefer to just stamp out the words I’m using for an entry. The Brushstroke Alphabet stamp set makes this so simple to do while giving you that awesome brushed lettering look!
I’m focusing on the verse Luke 22:46 which says, “and he said to them, ‘Why are you sleeping? Rise and pray that you may not enter into tempation.’” I chose to stamp out the phrase, “rise up and pray”, using Versafine Onyx Black Ink and writing in “and” using a Tombow Fude Calligraphy Pen.
I don’t have many different colored inks to stamp with so I’m always trying to find ways to improvise when stamping in my Bible. I chose to use Inktense Pencils to stamp the florals from the Abstract Florals stamp set. I know, this sounds crazy but it was really simple to do and gave me the look of watercolor that I was going for!
I just dipped the end of the Inktense Pencil into some water until the pigment was activated and then scribbled this onto the surface of the stamp. Once I stamped down the image, I would let it sit for just a few seconds so that the water and pigment could soak into the page a bit before lifting up the stamp.
I then went back in with some of the line details in the Abstract Floral set and stamped them using Versafine Onyx Black Ink to add some ink detail to the florals.
This page was super simple to create and I love that it has a hand painted feel without all of the skill!
Be sure to take a look at the process video to see how this page came together.
You can find these stamps as well as many others over in the Right at Home shop!
Until next time!
