Season of Blessings Card by Kari // Paper-Piecing Cute Critters

Hey everyone! Kari here bringing you another fall themed card featuring some of the newest release!  For my first post on the blog, I wanted to feature some of the cute critters in the latest release from two stamp sets, Deerest Friends and Friendly Fox.  I think these two images go so well together, and I wanted to do something a little different with them - I wanted to paper piece them!!  Instead of coloring them in with Copics or another coloring method, I wanted to give them some fun patterns by paper piecing them.

It has been a while since I have done this technique, but I thought this adorable deer and cute fox called for it.  I stamped both of my images onto a piece of cream colored card stock, and then I took some fall themed pattern papers that I felt would fit these critters the best, and stamped them again onto the pattern papers, and I fussy cut the images out.  For the fox, I cut out his tail and his tummy so I could keep those part of the images bright once I applied them to my card stock.  For the deer I did the same for the tail, and well as his face, and colored in the tail and his spots white with a white gel pen, and I colored his face in with a Copic marker.

For the rest of my 5x5 inch square card, I created panel from cream color card stock, and die cut several times some border dies to give it some interest with the different stitched elements.  I also die cut another piece of fall themed pattern paper using a stitched square die, and stamped and embossed my sentiment from Deerest Friends in gold embossing powder.

To finish, I added some fun leaf wood veneer pieces, added some foam adhesive to my critters and added them to my card, and viola!  I love the color scheme and all the elements that came together for the card using these adorable critters as the focal point!

Thanks for stopping by today!!  Don't forget to head over the the RAH shop and check out the latest release!  It's a good one!
