DIY Teacher Apple Bookmarks // Back to School with Right at Home

Hello, hello!

Isn't August flying by? Sad face. However, this is the beginning of my favorite time of year so I guess I just have to deal with it. And who doesn't love a good pencil?! Today I'm back with another DIY project featuring my Back to School Die Set and Planner stamp. I whipped this project up within one afternoon so it's perfect for a last minute teacher gift.

I started by using this bookmark die from Paper Smooches. I dug it back out of my stash and I can not believe I haven't used it more! It's totally adorable and the projects they have on the site are the cutest! I cut it three times: twice out of yellow, polka dot paper (one for the front, one for the back), and once from some thin chipboard to give it some stability.

I glued all three of those pieces together so I could move on to the apple portion. I cut the apple twice: once out of red paper and once out of the same chipboard. I also cut a stem and leaf to finish the apple off. Before I glued the apple together, I embossed the quote onto the center of it. Then I adhered all the apple pieces together.

When gluing the apple to the bookmark, make sure to only put glue down the center of the apple so that it doesn't stick to your book's pages! Otherwise you'll have a big mess when you go to use it.

I created two versions of these bookmarks so you can see how you can dress them up or keep them simple. On the one above, I stamped out some of the images from my planner set and arranged them around the sentiment. I'm dying over that little pencil!

The other one I kept super simple, with just the stamped apple. You can see from the picture above you can see it tucks perfectly around your page. You could tuck your finished bookmark into a new book you think the teacher would like. Or maybe even a fresh new planner! Either option is adorable.

We have two more Back to School DIY projects lined up for you so stay tuned for those. Make sure to let me know what you think of today's post in the comments below!
