Right at Home Stamps Mix & Match Week // Day #1 with Nicole

Every month I try to come up with a unique way to showcase my stamps...and this month is no different. This week my design team and I are hosting a Mix & Match Month. The idea? Mix your favorite set from my April Release with another set in my Right at Home Stamps collection. For the rest of the month we will be focusing on this idea, featuring two designer's creations per week. I think this was a great challenge for us and I can't wait to show you what we created...let's get started with Day #1!

For my card I decided to use my Abstract Florals set from last month's release and my Color In Sentiments from this month's release. These two mix together well as they both contain outline images which are perfect for different techniques like watercoloring. I started by using a piece of Tim Holtz watercolor paper and die-cutting a stitched rectangle out of it. Then I started my stamping, making sure to prep my surface with an anti-static powder tool. I started by stamping the "thank you" in the center of the panel and heat embossing it with white. Then I moved on to the swirl-y flowers and leaves.

Once all my embossing was done I created a color palette of various Ranger Distress Ink colors. Using a waterbrush, I added color to my three flowers and leaves and set it aside to dry. At this point I was debating on how to add color to my sentiment. I ultimately decided to used an ink blending tool and the My Favorite Things Sno Cone ink to create a subtle blue halo around the sentiment. I will say, it looks way more washed out in the pictures...in person the color is more vibrant and lthe greeting is legible.

To finish off the card I added the panel to a gray cardbase using some fun foam. I also grabbed some Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear sequins in various sizes to add a little sparkle and shine. I love the way this card turned out. It's simple but has a ton of bright colors that would bring a smile to anyone's face!

What do you think of my Mix & Match card? Make sure to pop back next week to see what Amy T. has made for you!
